Choice of ALL DAY Excursion:
We suggest you start from Papafraga, it is a sea cave that in the past was used by pirates as a base. It got its name from the last Catholic Pope who used the cave to moor his boat in the sheltered bay. Next to it is the settlement of Phylakopi where it was destroyed and rebuilt at least three times. You can walk around them and see the Beach of the Boar and take souvenir photos. The rocks you will see were created by volcanic factors many Years ago.
Then you can go to see Sarakiniko which is the most popular beach of the island with its white rocks that were created by volcanic factors millions of years ago. The whole area is formed with all-white rocks. It got its name from the Saracen Pirates who used it as a base and shelter.
After Sarakiniko there are two fishing villages, Mandrakia and Firopotamos:
Mandrakia is a fishing village where you will see the so-called Sirmata. The Wires are the Fishermen's Houses where they put their boats to protect them from the weather.
Firopotamos has a beautiful beach and there are wires all around. At the top of the hill is the abandoned mining factory.
Then you can see the Catacombs and the Ancient Theater:
The Catacombs date back to the first century. They are the most important along with the Catacombs of Rome and the Holy Land. It was used by Christians to bury their dead and as a The Ancient Theater is located above the Catacombs, The acoustics and the view are perfect. It dates from the third century. It is made of marble. It has seven rows and five staircases.
Then we will recommend a beach depending on the weather and leave you there to enjoy your swim and have lunch.
In the afternoon around 18:30 we will pick you up from the beach and leave you in Plaka to see the sunset and wander around the alleys.
